Richard Trombly, Festival Director

Richard Trombly, Festival Director

Richard Trombly is a university film school lecturer and a media expert with 25+ years of experience. He has been in Shanghai since 2003. He is an author, screenwriter and film maker who has produced feature films and stage productions in China. He is a co-organizer and founding member of the Shanghai Short Film Contest since 2005 and was previously a co-organizer of the Beijing International Independent Film Festival and the E.U Film Festival in China. After attaining a B.A. From the University of Massachusetts with a degree in literature concentrating in film and theater, he pursued a career in journalism reporting for publications including major news outlets and national-level magazines. Trombly started working in the entertainment industry in 2005. He worked on community-based film productions as well as co-founded Shanghai’s East West Theatre drama troupe. Trombly co-founded Obscure Productions films to assist in international co-productions and produce local films and is a partner in Crashdown Studio animation works and the founder of China Indie Film network.

Jenny Tang, Festival Director

Jenny Tang, Festival Director

Jenny Tang is a producer with deep experience in the China entertainment industry. Raised in Sydney, she has lived in China since 2010. She is a skilled storyteller, content creator, bilingual writer, director and producer. Her past works include: Lost in the pacific, Phantom of the Opera, Royal Danish Ballet Napoli, Fight Club, TVC Red Book, TVC Skyworth. Her current productions include a multi-million dollar oringal reality series in cooperation with Youku video platform

Rumbiey Muchenje, Festival Coordinator

Rumbiey Muchenje is a Zimbabwean storyteller who takes this passion to various media. She approaches everything from marketing and communications to film making as story. She is also very passionate about informing and entertaining people through different forms of media.. She believes that she can derive important cultural stories from every interaction with others and that film is a great tool for bridging the business and art worlds and well as fostering cultural understanding. An active member and film producer in the Zimbabwe film industry, including Kwela Pictures, Zimbawe and the nation’s film festivals. She most recently studied Chinese at East China Normal University, Shanghai.

Cynthia Yan, Festival Coordinator

Cynthia Yan is a graphic artist and a long time art lover. She brings bilingual expertise in Chinese and English. She is ambitious to use culture, languages, literature, fine arts and films to bridge the Western and Eastern cultures. She had lived in Canada for over 7 years and is well-traveled thoughout Europe, North America and Southern Asia

Amadeo Marquez-Perez, International Festival Liason

Amadeo Marquez-Perez brings expertise in the film industry as an artistic director, producer, programmer and lecturer. He also possesses extensive experience in film event management, programming, & marketing working with key aboriginal and culturally diverse organizations across Australia and internationally. His current affiliations are Regional Manager at the Malysian Arts and Film Festival, Persian Film Festival and Co-Chair at Asian Australian Film Forum & Network (AAFFN) with past experience at Bayside International Film Festival and the 15/15International Film Festival.

Peter Sallade, International Festival Liason

PETER SALLADE is the current Project Director of the European Union Film Festival in China, a post he has held since 2013. Previously, he served as a consultant to the Beijing International Film Festival in 2012 and 2011. Before that he ran Beijing’s best and only comprehensive international film festival, the Beijing International Movie Festival 2007 – 2011. Aside from his experience as a film festival organizer, he has also produced short film competitions, multimedia exhibitions, and worked on several movie projects as an associate producer. He has used his knowledge and experience to find foreign movies for Chinese distribution channels, and to send Chinese movies to suitable foreign film festivals. PETER SALLADE holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Brandeis University, and a Master’s Degree in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University. He has a strong passion for writing, directing, editing, producing, etc. –everything to do with the creation of movies, games, and all large scale works of art. He is the founder of 7 Horns HK Ltd., providing services to the film and festival markets.
